Long Island Video and Film Lovers May Appreciate Taking 30 Years to Finish a Photograph

Thirty Years in the Making
Chris Bray and his father Kenneth attended the first space shuttle launch 30 years ago and even though they hadn’t seen any other launches in person since, they decided to make the journey to see the final launch to ‘bookend’ the shuttle program in their lives. Plus, they were able to take this great image of father and son at two shuttle launches, “the picture we waited 30 years to complete,” Chris Bray said.

NY Media Studio Offers 10 Tips for Stunning Action Shots

How to Take the Best Action Shots Possible with 10 Simple Tips

Action Photography Tip #1: Plan ahead.

Carefully plan where you will set up.  This is probably the biggest mistake for action photographers. No matter what action you are going to shoot, you need to predict where you can be to capture the face of the subject.

Photographs: Reminders of Our Mortality

Victoria University Professor of Art History Geoffrey Batchen says it's time to rethink the significance of all those old photographs in family albums, in boxes under the bed-or posted on our Facebook page.

"Why is it that if our house is burning one of the few things we would run back to get is that old shoebox of photos we may not have looked at for 10 years? Given that 99.9 percent of photos are boring and repetitious-what is it about photography that we cling to with such tenacity?"

Photography

What Is Photography?

Photographs are amazing.  Through photographs, history is preserved - children's first steps, disappearing landscape, rare, endangered animals.

Photographs evoke the essence of places we have not been, we perhaps will not return to, and should never forget.

With a photograph, someone can be brought from his or her spot on the globe to someone else's.  They can stand in the midst of a pine forest or walk in hushed silence through the musky light of a swamp. Photographs have introduced families and told the story of lives intertwined forever.
